If you are a regular internet browser you must have at least once encountered the problem of virus or spyware. Both are considered to major problems and have the potential to cause severe damages. The difference between the two can be gauged by the ways you get them. You can get virus firstly when you open a file from e-mail attachments, secondly when file is transferred from other computers with the help of floppy disk, CDROM or USB drive. A virus spreads from one computer to another.

The major possibilities that make your computer prone to spyware are when you surf unreliable websites blindly and download such programs which you are not aware of what they are. Sometimes just by browsing through a page can be a welcoming gesture to spyware. The easiest way to get the Spyware is the time when you download free software’s, unknowingly you download a Spyware too.

Usually when you computer is affected by a virus, the damage it causes ranges like the computer may lose data, cause usability problem to the computer or computer may get corrupted. Whereas the Spyware is none other than a parasite which takes partial control over the user’s interaction with the computer without its cognizance. It can cause more of potential damage by exploiting the infected computer for commercial gain, delivering unwanted and unnecessary pop-up advertisements, robbing of personal information or diverting advertising revenue to the third party.
