List of Fake Anti-Spyware Programs

A number of fake anti-spyware programs are on the run in the market with several malicious programmers and web banner ads misleading innocent people into buying anti-spyware programs which do not actually remove the spyware but, in stead cause much more damage to your computer system. These ads and programmers falsely warn users about the possible presence of spyware in their system and the innocent customers end up buying something much worse.

Here is a list of some of the common fake anti-spyware programs:

Antivermins: This is a spyware program that claims to be a spyware removal program, while in fact it itself is adware-advertised. The software on its own gets installed in the user’s computer without the permission of the user and then sends messages as ‘system error, buy antivermins to clean your system’, which compels the user to ultimately buy these programs.

Ultimate Cleaner 2007: This anti-spyware program pops up fake Windows security messages and security warnings which cause the user to believe that their system is infected by some spyware and they need to buy one of these anti-spyware programs to clean it.

Some of the other anti-spyware programs include:

  • Contravirus
  • AntiSpyStorm
  • Bestseller Antivirus
  • Advanced Cleaner
  • SpywareStrike
  • MalwareAlarm
  • TrustedAntivirus
  • Spy Sheriff
  • Spy Wiper
  • Disk Knight
  • Spyware Quake
  • Brave Sentry
  • Security Toolbar 7.1
