What is a firewall?
A device or system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be implemented in both hardware and software, or a combination of both.

Firewalls are frequently used to prevent unauthorized
Internet users from accessing private networks connected
to the Internet, especially intra nets.
There are several types of firewall techniques:
1. Packet filter:
Packet filtering is fairly effective and transparent
to users, but it is difficult to configure. In addition, it
is susceptible to IP spoofing.

2. Application gateway:
Applies security mechanisms to specific
applications, such as FTP and Telnet servers.
3. Circuit-level gateway:
Applies security mechanisms when a
TCP or UDP connection is established.
4. Proxy server:
The proxy server effectively hides the true
network addresses

Mobile Firewall

A mobile firewall is a hardware and software system that is designed to protect wireless or wi fi communication networks from unauthorized access and use. A mobile node can be defined as client access protocol requesting the services or accessing the services from network control server system , which can be relay transmitter or network tower servicing the signals requested by node .

Mobile firewall acts an interpreter between mobile node and network system tower . Some time we can denote as it a Network filter , It simply means that all incoming network traffic will first go through firewall system , and Once the mobile node has been granted access by the firewall, it could access the path through which the mobile node could utilize the services it has requested.

The mobile network could also be designed to work in integrated group, of a number of working firewalls that could be controlled by a centralized system for easy administration.

The whole system comes into network when it is used connectively with mobile node, the firewall hardware and software system, and the network itself are present and operational.

The mobile communications firewall ensures safe guard against network security threats and intrusions ,together with all of the mobile clients or subscribers that make use of the services offered by the network or mobile network service provider .
