Researchers believe that malicious program discovered on facebook.com in late july has rebounded again comprising Google’s website ,as cyber criminal are acting tough, this time targeting search engine to discover new malware attack against face book users.
According to Fortinet a suspicious program similar to koobface worm had started using Google reader and picassa websites.
“The Koobface worm spreads by sending messages to “friends” from previously compromised, but legitimate, Facebook accounts, Guillaume Lovet, senior manager of threat research at Fortinet, told SCMagazineUS.com”

“Cyber criminals are playing smart games by attaching link to google reader or picassa page because google links appear to be safe ,where video is intentionally computed but unfortunately users are channel into new direction of malicious site hosted by google” ,lovet said .
The messages, which are screened with spelling errors to avoid security filters, tell users they were caught in a video on you tube.
Now the victim is asked to download special codec decompression software to view the video. But however this software is Trojan program which is also responsible for installing rogue anti virus software which is blocked by most anti virus suites in recent times.
“Barry Schnitt, a Facebook spokesman, said the worm is not new — it has been circulating since the summer — but before now, criminals hadn’t been using the Google name. He told SCMagazineUS.com that Facebook’s estimated 110 million users will not be affected if they are running the latest anti-virus software.” “A small percentage of users have been affected by the attack, he said”.

Lovet view that cyber-criminals behind Koobface have deliberately misspelled their Face book messages to further help them evade detection by filters.
Security experts have long warned that the Web 2.0 mash-up model of allowing users to put together their own content from many different sources naturally creates many security problems. In part, this is because it allows anyone to post material on trustworthy domains such as Google.com
Face book is jointly working with the major giant Google to face such problems.
