With the widespread increase in the number of spyware programs, there has been an equally large increase in the after effects of spyware attacks. As more and more people are getting used to the convenience of internet, it is also proving out to be a useful medium for torsions and viruses for some unauthorized bodies.
There is a complete list of sources which are being used to infiltrate the computer systems of thousands of people worldwide like, cookies, keyloggers, hijacker, adware, etc. While most of these spywares directly get themselves installed on the user’s computer system, it is possible to install these spywares through other indirect means also.
One of the recent findings of spyware programs suggests the use of sites like Yahoo to infest these viruses. It so happens that when any spyware vendor is out of customers that can buy their ad inventory directly, these vendors make use of sites like Yahoo to show these ads. The technique is based on Yahoo’s ‘pay-per-click search system’. According to this system, every time the user clicks on such an ad, the advertiser is supposed to pay Yahoo. Yahoo is then required to pay a revenue share to the spyware vendor that showed the advertisement.
Whenever any advertiser wishes to show their ads, they largely focus on search engine advertising; whereby ads have to be carefully targeted to the specific keywords which the advertisers specify.
So, the next time you click upon any advertisement on any such site, just beware as you may actually be clicking to invite a spyware into your computer system.
