One of the more common questions that I get from clients is what anti-virus and anti-spyware to choose. Honestly, it's quite hard to recommend any anymore. Norton bothers me quite often, as does McAfee. The latest versions try to do just too much and tend to bog the system. There are online scanners from BitDefender, F-Secure, Norton, and McAfee anyway, so this is what I use most of the time. If you think you're infected these are completely up-to-date and so are generally a better choice anyway.
As for anti-spyware, I like Microsoft's new Anti-Spyware product. It does a good job of monitoring the changes done to IE's settings and the like, and it's SpyNet looks like it catches new variants faster than most.
